Welcome to MonroeWiki.com, the site by Monroe, Michigan residents for Monroe residents. The goal is to collect all sorts of information about Monroe County, the City of Monroe, and the surrounding communities, from great restaurants and festivals to political figures and news items.
This website needs your help, though. A wiki is designed to be edited by the users. Basically, it means that if you're an expert on something in Monroe (for instance, maybe you know what beers are on tap at the local bars), you have the chance to write about it for the community at large. This is the same principle Wikipedia is based on. Think of MonroeWiki as your local Wikipedia for all things Monroe. :)

Update 3/18/08 : added FCKEditor, which makes editing pages much easier; the layout resembles more Microsoft Word than a coding environment.

This site will live or die depending on what people put into it. Creating a page is as easy as searching for it and clicking the "create page" link.
Some suggestions:
Restaurants (with reviews!)
Government services and departments
[edit] Guidelines/rules:
- Please keep the information as unbiased as possible. This is a reference website, not a place to air dirty laundry. Reviews are encouraged at the bottom of most business links.
- As the site is still shiny, please start off with general categories, for instance Bars, before adding something specific, such as Steve's Tavern. This will help organize the site and encourage people to put their pages in the correct categories.
- Keep it clean. Excessive cursing, hate speech, spamming, etc. will not be tolerated. I'm a big fan of free speech, but this is a family website, after all.
- Frivolous pages (What I ate for Dinner, pictures of my dog, my friend eats poo) will be deleted on site. Continued creation of pointless pages will result in being banned.
- Discussion is needed on proper formatting.
